Head to Hollywood (H2H) is a non-profit organization that provides comfort, escape and emotional healing to brain tumor survivors and their families in the form of access to star-studded events, concerts and parties, movie and TV studio tours, and pampering at celebrity spas and beauty salons. H2H is the only program of its kind dedicated to giving brain tumor survivors of all ages and their families an all-access pass into a world usually only reserved for celebrities. H2H also works to raise public awareness about brain tumors by hosting public events and fundraisers, and through its support of research and educational programs.

History

Head to Hollywood was founded in 2005 by journalist and author Ken Baker, a pituitary brain tumor survivor. Carmen Electra, whose mother died from a malignant brain tumor in 1998, was among the first celebrities to lend volunteer support to the charity.

H2H, which began as a program of the Pituitary Network Association, is an independent public charity with federally recognized tax-exempt status under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Service code.

Baker, a former pro hockey player who shared his survivor story in his Oprah Winfrey-recommended memoir Man Made: A Memoir of My Body, explains: “We treat brain tumor survivors and their families like they are the stars. Our programs provide what Hollywood does best – escape – and that’s our commitment to each of our H2H Stars whom we host.”

Electra, who dedicates her H2H work to the memory of her late mother, adds, “This charity is a personal passion. Our charity truly makes dreams come true.”

H2H, which is served by a board of directors, is comprised of Hollywood community and business leaders, also has enjoyed the support and participation of many celebrities, including comedian David Spade, American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell, Paris and Nicky Hilton and actor Kevin Connolly.
